What a Great Library!

I found a great article in the USA Today paper this morning. I like the idea of "found art" (check it out at found-art.com) but when I got into the narrative, I became egrossed at the idea of a "world library."

In short, you read a book, register on the website, label the book, and "release it into the wild." The books are free for the finder. The finder is requested to go to the website and make a journal entry about the find. It's sort of like putting a note in a bottle and tossing it into the ocean, and waiting to hear from the finder. Thousands from around the world have signed up.
So, go to the website, look for your state and your city and see how many books have been released into the wild and where they were released. If you find a recent posting, go on safari and see if you can find it.
I love books, and I like the idea. I believe I'll sign up for this one and give it a try. Go to the Bookcrossing website and try it out.

Folklife Festival

I read a lot of interesting articles about the Birthplace of Country Music Alliance's work with the Smithsonian Folklife Festival in Washington DC the last couple of weeks. We had a lot of local people up there performing and sharing our area's music with the world.

My son, John, over at thudfactor.com visited the Festival and took a few pictures for me. Check these photos out. Remember: to return to this window, just close the photo window.

The Country Music Mural located on State Street in Bristol TN was reproduced on the Mall.

Behind the Mural a stage was built, resembling a Pickin' Porch.

Here's a view from the Right of the Porch.

And here is a view of one of the local groups performing at the Festival.

Many thanks to John for his photographic support. Check out his website. He photodocuments his travels.
